Video & Audio

Free video and audio tools for converting formats, trimming clips, making GIFs, extracting or muting audio, changing speed and compressing files. Unlike most ZeroUtil tools, media work needs real encoding power: your file is uploaded, processed on our server with ffmpeg and returned as a download. Processed files are deleted automatically a short time after the job finishes, and there is no account or signup.

Convert video and audio between formats

Different players, editors and platforms expect different containers and codecs. The video converter changes a clip between MP4, WebM, MOV and other formats so it plays where you need it, and the audio converter moves a track between MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG and FLAC for podcasts, samples and archives. Both run server-side with ffmpeg, which is why they can handle real codecs that a browser alone cannot transcode.

Cut, crop and rearrange clips

For editing without installing a desktop suite, the video trimmer cuts a clip down to a chosen start and end, the video cropper reframes the picture to a new aspect ratio, and the video concatenator joins several clips into one. Need a fixed-length sample of a song? The audio trimmer does the same for sound files.

Adjust speed, direction and sound

The video speed changer creates slow-motion or time-lapse output, the video reverser plays a clip backwards, and the mute video tool strips the audio track when you want a silent clip. To work with the sound separately, the extract audio from video tool pulls the soundtrack into a standalone audio file.

Make GIFs, shrink files and capture audio

The video to GIF tool turns a short clip into a looping animated GIF for chats, docs and issue trackers, while the video compressor reduces file size so a clip fits an upload limit or email attachment. For visualizing or recording sound, the audio waveform generator renders a waveform image from a track, and the voice recorder captures audio straight from your microphone.

What these tools are good for

  • Compatibility - convert a video or audio file into a format your target player or platform accepts.
  • Quick edits - trim, crop, join, reverse or change the speed of a clip without a full editor.
  • Sharing - turn a moment into a GIF or compress a video to fit an upload or attachment limit.
  • Audio work - extract a soundtrack, mute a clip, trim a track or convert between audio formats.
  • Capture and visuals - record a voice memo or generate a waveform image from existing audio.

How processing and privacy work here

Video and audio encoding is too heavy to run reliably inside a browser tab, so these tools differ from the rest of ZeroUtil: your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed on our server with ffmpeg, and made available as a download link. The uploaded source and the generated output are deleted automatically a short time after the job completes, and there is no signup or stored account history. If a file is highly sensitive, keep that auto-deletion window in mind and avoid uploading anything you are not comfortable processing off-device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do these video and audio tools run in my browser like other ZeroUtil tools?

No. Most ZeroUtil tools run entirely in your browser, but video and audio encoding is too demanding for that. Your file is uploaded and processed on our server with ffmpeg, then returned as a download, which is what lets these tools handle real codecs and large files.

What happens to my file after it is processed?

The uploaded source and the generated output are deleted automatically a short time after the job finishes. There is no account system and no long-term storage, so files are not kept around once your processing is done and the download link expires.

How do I turn a video into a GIF?

Open the video to GIF tool, upload a short clip, and choose the segment, size and frame rate you want. The server renders a looping animated GIF and gives you a download, which is ideal for chats, documentation and issue trackers where a short visual beats a full video.

Can I extract the audio from a video or remove the sound?

Yes. Use the extract audio from video tool to pull the soundtrack into a standalone audio file such as MP3 or WAV, and use the mute video tool when you want to keep the picture but strip the audio track entirely.

How can I make a video file smaller?

Use the video compressor to reduce file size so a clip fits an upload limit, email attachment or storage cap. It re-encodes the video server-side to lower the bitrate and size while keeping the clip watchable, and you download the smaller result directly.
